Swift software for Leicester users

The Swift software (HEASoft 6.25) is installed on the Starlink SLED system. In order to run it, follow these instructions:

Machines running SLED

For Bourne shell/Bash users:

  1. Add the following line to your .profile file in your home directory:
    source /etc/profile.local
  2. Type module load ciao
  3. Type module load heasoft/6.25

Note that you may need to create a pfiles-swift directory in your home area the first time you try to run the software.

The response matrices can be found in /software/remote/apps/ciao/ciao-4.8/CALDB/data/swift/xrt/cpf/rmf/.

If there are other Swift/FTools-related definitions in .bashrc they should be removed or commented out to avoid possible confusion or software conflicts.
